Which Elite Models This Applies To

Most Elite gates in Gardena fall into two camps: the older SL series and the newer E-Series residential models. The welding and fabrication needs differ between them. The SL-series cantilever gates, common on the wider driveways in Holly Park and Moneta neighborhoods, use heavy steel V-track wheels and carrier plates that ride a rail. • You can see rust weeping from a joint or seam, especially near the bottom rail. Water gets inside the tube steel through pin holes and sits. In Gardena’s coastal air, that internal rust expands and cracks the steel from the inside out. Once the seam is bleeding rust, the tube is usually structurally compromised at that point.
• The gate post itself has a visible crack near the hinge or upper-track mount. On older Elite cantilever gates, the post cap and mounting ears were welded on, and decades of cycling causes the weld bead to crack. We see this on gates installed in the early 1990s all over Gardena.
